Original Commentary 2 (Marijuana Leglaization)

Marijuana is a rising issue in our government. Being a supporter of legalization of marijuana, I believe that it will help keep the crime level lower as people will not have to deal weed illegally.
Teenagers will stay away from dealers who are dangerous. Marijuana has showed to be very helpful medically as it helps reduce stress. Not only is it medically beneficial, there are many economical benefits. If sold legally, marijuana can produce a lot of money in taxes as proved by the pot industry in Colorado. The more tax money we have, the higher our budget will be. We will have more money to spend on health care, education and reducing poverty.
We all know that getting a job at this period in time is very difficult but if we open up pot stores we can create more jobs and help keep people out of poverty. If more jobs are created, people will not have to depend on government funds and the government will have more money to spend on other areas.
If legalization happens, we will have a brand new industry in our very own nation and we will be able to take pride in the fact that we have a domestic industry that produces large amounts of money. Not only does the pot industry produce taxes but also keeps money flowing in the economy.
If people think that weed will cause crime then there is proof to show against it. In colorado, there has been not a single count of crime related to marijuana. To conclude, the legalization of marijuana will help the government and it's people.

Comment on peer 2 (Jonathan Shipe)

I agree with Jonathan Shipe's opinion as it says that we are spending very large amounts of money on countries that do not even need any help. The U.S government needs to cut back on spending on other countries and focus more on our own economical issues.
We spend too much time, money and effort paying attention to foreign problems and forget that we have 300 million people to take care of in our own country.
Arguably someone might say that we need to keep good relations with other countries as they might come to our help in the future if needed but spending billions of our own dollars "investing" in other countries is far too risky as we might not have enough money left to spend on important domestic issues like education, poverty and much more.
We need to pay more attention on domestic affairs rather than spending loads of money on foreign countries.

Comment on peer (Adrian Martinez)

I totally agree with the fact that Obama is doing the right thing by trying to punish Russia for their actions. Rather than going to war with Russia, President Obama is taking things slowly yet effectively. He is trying to right the wrong without going to war like we always did in the past.
Obama is trying to defend Ukraine and keep them away from Putin. It is the right thing to do as Ukraine has the ability to be it's own country and does not need to be controlled by their neighbors. President Obama is trying to find a diplomatic solution rather than having to go to war and make things worse.  I agree with Adrian when he says that Obama is trying to be as negotiable as possible with Putin and making sure that things don't get out of control.

Commentary 2

Global warming has been a growing issue and we all know it. Recently the New York Times posted an article about how people don’t care about the fact that we are ruining our environment. I feel like people care too much about the present that they forget the importance of the future. Global warming is a slow process of destruction of our planet, but it’s sneaking up on us. The writer claims that President Obama has fulfilled his promises on controlling the environment. I agree with the writer.
Congress has taken many actions to against harmful fuel-emission but it needs more attention. If we just take care of small things everyday we will make a big difference.  Obama needs to devise new rules governing natural gas drilling and leaks of methane, which is a greenhouse gas. He must follow through with strong rules on existing power plants, which account for 40% of the carbon dioxide emission in our country. This will infuriate senators from states that have major power plants and coal producing states. For example Mitch McConnell.

Congress passed major laws in 2012 for regulating car fuel emission. This did help reduce a lot of carbon monoxide emission but that’s not enough. As citizens of this country we need to control our carbon emission and make a difference. Improving the environment and reducing global warming are not overnight events; we have to work on it slowly and steadily. We need to make more laws to prevent global warming or at least regulate activities a little more.

Legalization of marijuana

In recent times, the legalization of marijuana has been a big issue. Marijuana should be legalized. Legalization would help keep many illegal pot dealers out of prison, which would help lower the expenses that the state pays to imprison an individual. The cost to imprison someone annually is $168,000. This expense is fully paid by taxpayers. If legalized, the marijuana industry can sore tax revenue for the national government. In January alone, the marijuana industry of Colorado stacked up $2 million in taxes. If all 50 states legalize marijuana, the government can produce $100 million every month. As marijuana is illegal in the U.S, many foreign cultivators are profiting from smuggling pot into the U.S and because of this the flow of money within America is reduced. Another reason marijuana should be legalized is that it has many positive attributes, such as its medical value. Marijuana helps with nausea. headaches and many other medical problems. Marijuana can be very helpful to people who have medical issues. If marijuana is legalized, law enforcement will be able to spend more of their time focusing on more important crimes and this will save the government a lot more money. When comparing marijuana to alcohol, marijuana is a lot safer. This is scientifically proven. Looking at marijuana from an agricultural view, hemp is a cannabis-originated bio fuel, which is a lot safer than the carbon-emitting fuels we use today. Looking at all these positive benefits of marijuana, I believe that it should be legalized and that it will help the American government as a whole.

The article is intended towards the conservative population of America. The author tells us that smaller, more monolithic community hospitals are more "cost efficient and patient-satisfying". I agree with the author because physician owned hospitals will be more responsive and less bureaucratic. The author provides evidence of his idea when he tells us that a very well re-known doctor herself, named Mundy, said "new measurement showed that doctor-owned facilities...and patient satisfaction"(7th paragraph). This tells us that doctors themselves believe that they will do better work when they own their own facility.
These facilities will focus their entire time researching specific treatments of specific injuries. This will help people better understand their injury because they will be talking to very experienced and knowledgeable doctors.
Physician owners have started getting into the hospital business to treat more effectively and also cost-efficiently. Patients will not have to pay more when they go to smaller and more specific hospitals rather than bigger hospitals because they won't have to go trough too many tests and surveilences.
If monolithic hospitals are opened, doctors will know exactly what's wrong with the patient as they get more time to diagnose the patient. This gives them more efficiency during the operation.
